So my friend Sarah Beth and I have been feeling almost annoyingly crafty lately, after finally feeling inspired enough to paint some canvases for Brogan's bathroom. We caught the painting bug and now we just can't shake it...lucky for our friends.
We painted quite a few buckets this weekend for some pretty sweet kiddos, and I hope they will enjoy keeping all their toys in them (and their mom's can enjoy keeping their toys organized!) Sarah Beth painted one for "B" to keep down stairs, we both worked on two buckets for sweet Baby A, and I painted one for Banks Bradley, to go with his robot nursery.
If you know a sweet kiddo that might need a toy bucket, let us know!
This past weekend, my beautiful little Lauren got married! Actually
beautiful doesn't even begin to describe what the weekend was. I will
have more to post about the newest Mrs. Dale soon, but two weekends ago
we had Lauren's last fling before her ring!...now I must say, some of
the party details are not for little eyes, so proceed with caution ;)
Our night started out at the Hilton in Atlanta. I wanted Lauren to feel totally pampered, and to me that means sleeping in a room that no one at the party has to clean! HA!
I made a wreath to place on the door so that everyone in the the hotel would know that they were missing out on some awesome bachelorette fun!
The party started with cupcakes and cocktails in the room. We made Pink Panty Pulldowns and some, ahem, anatomically shaped sweets...
Once Lauren had opened all her sexy goodies, we got ready for our night on the town! We started the night at Blake's on the Park and then walked over to Crescent Ave. and went to Ri Ra and Flip Flops. It was an UHMAZING night of fun dancing and tons of laughter!
Lauren was a gorgeous bachelorette, and an even more stunning bride! It was such a fun night to celebrate with friends, and I can't wait to share all the sweet details of the wedding!
Today was the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Atlanta. I loved being a part of this race, and it was by far the LARGEST group of people I've ever seen wearing shirts that all has to do with boobs! HA! There was our team, "Dancing Purple Hooters", team "Hello Titty" (my personal fave, I almost died laughing when I saw this one), a team called "Save second base" and tons more.
It was so special to run this race with so many people who had all been touched in some way by this horrendous disease. At the end of the race, there was a special lane for survivors to finish in, where they were awarded with medals and flowers. I got particularly emotional when my friend's mom finished, but also when a sweet elderly woman finished and I saw that her back "I run in celebration of" tag said "Myself, 18 years!"...I was choking back the tears for hot second there!
I will definitely be running this race again, and I had so much fun with the entire team! It was an amazing and exhausting day...I think Giovanni sums it all up in one picture...
May has been/is going to continue to be an insanely busy month for me. I'm excited about all that this month has to bring!
The first weekend brought fun celebrations of my bestie's new place and a reconnection with my sweet Mary Jane. Meghan and I went to La Fonda Latina and had some great mexican food and some delicious margaritas to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Later, Mary and I went out to Ri Ra Irish Pub, to celebrate Cinco de Mary! This picture is a little crazy, but it is still one of my absolute favorites of Mary and I!
Mary and I at our Summer Thanksgiving dinner after party. Circa 2008.
This next weekend brings my second 5K, and I am just as nervous as I was with my first one. I will be running the Susan G. Komen 5K in Atlanta, in honor of my best friend's mom, Stacey. I have been friends with Krista, and the whole Burch family for 12 years and I am in awe of what an amazingly strong fighter Stacey has always been! I can't wait for all the fun and hilarious memories that this 5K will bring! I'm also headed to the LG to celebrate Mother's day with the best mom in the world!
Coming up in the 3rd
weekend, I have a baby shower for my sorority sister, Sophia. I have so
many whacky memories with Sophia, random nights in Athens (YONK!),
trying to get into UGA games with fake student IDs, driving around campus screaming Fall Out
Boy at the top of our lungs, and hiding a kitten in the on campus
apartments! I am so excited to be able to shower Sophia and baby Nolan
with some wonderful gifts!
After Sophia's baby shower, I am hosting a pot luck dinner/pool party/slumber party for my little Zeta family. I love my little Zetas, and can't wait to be able to make some wonderful crazy memories with all of them!
The final weekend is bringing lots of fun bachelorette and birthday
plans. I will be celebrating Lauren's last fling before her ring, and
then heading to Lake Hartwell with Krista for Memorial Day weekend. On
Monday, we are going to the Braves game for my birthday and I can't
wait! I love love love going to Braves games, and being at Turner Field
on my birthday is going to be the perfect way to ring in the big
26!
Also, I have to give a Birthday Twin shout out to my friend, Sarah Beth! (And actually my grandmother too, but she'll never read this!) Sarah Beth and I often find ourselves saying the exact thing at the exact same time. It's really weird. We attribute it to being birthday twins. It could also be that we spend a lot of time together, but I'm going with the first option!
Celebrating our 25th and 24th birthdays last year, at our "Made in the 80's" party!
May is bringing lots of busy weekends and fun plans and I am so excited for each of them!!
New Girl is one of my all time favorite shows. Mainly because I feel that I AM JESSICA DAY! Insanely awkward and a little to childish for her age.
I think that Jess is perfectly socially awkward, Nick possess just the perfect amount of the slacker gene for me to be naturally attracted to him. Winston sings Wicked in the car. And Schmidt is Schmidt. This show would not be the same without any one character. Except maybe Coach...
Jess also has and absolutely adorable since of style. I love how
everything is a little vintage-y and child-like. A.k.a. lots of polka
dots, bows, high wasted shorts, ballet flats and checks with baby farm
animals on them.
So I think that Jess would be proud of my recent Spring accessory. Little girl's hair barrettes. You know, the ones with bonnet wearing ducks and cello playing cats. We all had them when we were little. Well, I wear them now. To work. Out with friends. When I take off my makeup and have my glasses on to keep my bangs out of my eyes. Hot.
Now, a little trip down memory lane...
If you haven't seen New Girl, it's on Tuesday nights @ 9pm EST on Fox. It is a must see! Now I'll leave you with my all time favorite moment from the
show...the ultimate solution of what to do when you are -1 at a wedding
and there are all those slow songs...
The weather this weekend was beautiful. I spent the weekend celebrating
my little finishing college and I was also able to celebrate her upcoming
nuptials to Nathan! We were able to do some impromptu antiques shopping
on the square in Dahlonega, which is one of my favorite places to wander
in and out of shops, and we found some great vintage oil lamps, and a
precious little lace apron. I love Lauren so much and I am so looking forward to celebrating her big day with her!
I also spent Saturday with The Hammonds, enjoying their new grill and patio set! It was the perfect weather for just sitting outside watching Brogan play in her new dinosaur sand box. We also painted the playroom, but I'm sure there will be more of that later...
Brogan is so sweet. She loves Luke and keeps a good check on his "eye boogies". Kind of gross, but kind of sweet too! What would he do without her?!
Now that the weather is hopefully going to stay nice for a while, I hope to have lots of fun summer posts to come!
I don't have any siblings. I like it that way. 100%. No doubt. Wouldn't change it for the world.
So obviously, I have no nieces or nephews. I will NEVER marry an only child, just to remedy this issue. So, when my friends call me their childrens' "aunt", it sends me over the moon. I melt into a puddle of emotional, hold back the tears mush.
Ok so. My friend Amy is a mom. And that means that her husband Bill is a dad. I think I needed to type that so that I can comprehend it. That said, I need to also type this... I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER FOR THEM!!!
Banks Bradley entered the world on April, 25th, 2012 at 4:04pm. He weighs 6lbs. 9oz. and is 19 in., such a little cutie!
But let me start at the beginning. Amy and I have been friends since approximately January 17th, 2005. (Yes Amy, that was my bid day.) She was my Mama Squirrel (I won't go into what this means, but it's very official and Amy gets it). I also very quickly realized that Amy is me 2 years in the future, or I'm her 2 years in the past, or something like that. Either way, we get each other. She is the only person that understands and relates to how awkward I can be in any and every situation that requires composure.
I will ALWAYS appreciate her for this.
I was lucky enough to be a part of Amy and Bill's engagement scavenger hunt and also their wedding. (The "R") I love this couple so much. They are my cool friends. I mean I feel cooler when I hang out with them. It's true.
So I went to visit Banks last night, because let's be honest, as much as I love Amy and Bill, I never go visit them. Sorry guys. This will change starting yesterday at 4:04pm. So after I spent some precious time with my friends and this precious little bundle, it was time for mommy and baby to get some rest. Bill was walking us (some other friends had come to visit as well) out to our cars and he said "Aunt Vic". I nearly passed out in the hallway. Bill, in case you don't remember this, which you probably don't, it happened. So don't take it back.
So this brings the count of my pseudo nieces and nephews to 3. Brogan, Giovanni and Banks. I love them all as if each of their moms were my sisters and hope to be an awesome aunt to each one of them!
Challenge accepted.
P.S. Amy, this last picture is just for fun. It has little relevance to this blog, but I couldn't help but laugh when I saw it...
